About Joshua Jennings

Born in Jamaica, New York, Joshua began studying music in 7th Grade at Catherine and Count Basie Middle School. While in Seventh Grade, Joshua started studying music with Grammy award nominee Trumpet Player Waldron Ricks. Ricks mentored Joshua through the 7th grade. He helped Joshua to get into the Jazz At Lincoln Center Middle School Program. During this Program Joshua was taught every Wednesday by Six time Grammy award winner Jim Seeley. Joshua has continued into the High School Jazz program at Jazz At Lincoln Center. While in the high school program at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Joshua has studied with musicians such as; Jarritt Sheel, Alexa Taratino, Tatum Greenblatt, Willerm Delisfort, Corey Wallace, Wynton Marsalis and many others. Now that he has finished the program Joshua looks forward to continuing to practice and study the art of music at the University Of North Texas. 

Joshua has played at 4 All-City Festivals, 3 major Jazz Festivals, Savannah Music Festival, Caramoor Jazz Festival in Caramoor, New York, and the John Coltrane Jazz Festival. He has also been selected by NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) to be on the alternate list for the All- State Festival, which ranks him as one of the top High School Trumpeters in the State of New York. Now Joshua is Studying with 2017 Carmine Caruso International Jazz Solo Competition winner Tony Glausi.

Currently Joshua Jennings is a Double Major in Jazz Performance and Jazz Arranging/Composition at the University Of North Texas. While being a Freshman at the University he won the 2020 Young Arts Merit Award for Jazz.
